Word, PowerPoint, Outlook Apps Get New Features In July

Three Microsoft Office Android applications will receive new features next month, according to the support page of the software giant Microsoft. The tech firm has identified the three Office applications for Android that will get new features in July as the Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint apps. Starting next month, the Microsoft Word Android app will now show both the word count and the number of pages of the document as the user scrolls up or down a file, and the application will also gain a zoom capability that will automatically fit the document to the entire smartphone screen.

On the other hand, the Outlook Android app will also be receiving at least two new features next month. Starting July, Microsoft will now allow people to delete contacts directly on the Outlook Android app, a feature that the software giant mentioned has been requested by the users of the application. The Microsoft Outlook for Android also gains a “Do Not Disturb” mode, which limits the number of distractions that users encounter. For example, this feature allows users to temporarily turn off email notifications for a specific amount of time or during specific scheduled events. Last but not the least, it will now be easier for users of the PowerPoint Android app to edit the slides of the presentation deck and access comments and notes on both portrait and landscape modes.  When the device is in portrait mode, comments and notes about the contents or appearance of a specific slide will appear at the bottom portion of the smartphone screens. Furthermore, users of Microsoft PowerPoint for Android can now take images and quickly share these photographs with other users.

The software updates that will introduce these new features will roll out next month through the Google Play Store, although Office Insiders, which are users who volunteered to test the preview versions of the latest Office app updates, should now receive the new software features. In the previous months, the software giant has introduced a number of features into the Android apps of its Microsoft Office suite. These include integration of the Office Lens technology into the Outlook Android app and the ability to use any font color for hyperlinks on the PowerPoint Android app.
